Two developing stories will be reported during the next edition of Talk Ten Tuesdays.

On Thursday, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) posted the 2018 ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting. Gloryanne Bryant, past president of the California Health Information Association, will report this developing story.

The other developing story is the impending release of an update of the 2012 Third Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction. Think MINOCA and INOCA. These represent some of the newest 2018 ICD-10-CM codes. Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) and ischemia and no obstructive coronary artery disease (INOCA) have come into use to describe myocardial infarction and ischemia, respectively, both without obstructive coronary disease. During the next edition of Talk-Ten-Tuesdays, Stephen Sokolyk, MD will discuss the origins and definitions of these terms, causes of the phenomena, and the latest research in this area.

Other segments to be featured on the broadcast include:

  • News Desk: Dennis Jones, the patient financial services administrator at Nyack Hospital in Nyack, N. Y., will anchor the Talk Ten Tuesdays news desk, reporting on ICD-10 headlines.

  • Mental Health Report: Nationally renowned psychiatrist H. Steven Moffic, MD will return to the broadcast to report on managing stress. Is there a need for mental health stress tests? Dr. Moffic specifically will report on early warning signs.

  • DocTalk: James S. Kennedy, MD, president and founder of CDIMD, who first introduced Talk Ten Tuesdays audience members to MINOCA and INOCA, will provide coding and documentation perspective for both of these significant acronyms.

All this and more will be coming your way on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. ET.
