Ethical Coding: Documenting Acceptable Behavior

The subject of ethics made headline news last week when House Republicans voted in secret to scrap the Office of Congressional Ethics – only to rescind their move to gut the independent body later. 
Meanwhile, a different move was unfolding recently at the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), which last month unveiled its newest version of Standards of Ethical Coding. Gloryanne Bryant, a co-chair of the AHIMA task force responsible for revisions to the document, will explain the wide range of behaviors and situations that apply to all settings, including post-acute care and physician offices.
