ICD-10monitor to Report on CMS National Provider Teleconference on Wednesday

Original story posted on: May 16, 2011

ICD-10monitor is making plans to provide same-day news coverage of tomorrow’s (Wednesday, May 18, 2011) ICD-10 national provider teleconference scheduled to be hosted by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Janis K. Oppelt, a senior editor for Medical Learning, Inc. in St. Paul, Minn. and a member of the ICD-10 editorial board, is slated to cover the live event that begins at 1 p.m. ET. Her report is expected to be distributed the same day to ICD-10monitor subscribers.

Oppelt reports and writes articles related to healthcare financial management issues, including regulatory, billing and coding topics in the areas of laboratory, radiology and pharmacy.

We are pleased to be able to provide this level of thoughtful coverage of the CMS event.  As healthcare providers are transitioning from ICD-9 to ICD-10, CMS recognizes the importance of this teleconference and therefore we feel an editorial responsibility to cover the event.

Called “CMS ICD-10 Conversion Activities,” the 90-minute teleconference is expected to feature a case study from the CMS Coverage and Analysis Group on their transition to ICD-10 for the lab national coverage determinations (NCDs). A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.
