Thousands of new ICD-10 codes are coming your way, just in time for the Oct. 1, 2018 fiscal year. The changes are massive, and this coming Tuesday’s broadcast of Talk Ten Tuesdays marks the first in a series of reports to review them.

Reporting our lead story will be James S. Kennedy, MD, president and founder of CDIMD. Dr. Kennedy will report on the 2018 ICD-10-CM myocardial infarction codes as they relate to the impending release of a 2017 update of the 2012 Third Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction.

Holly Louie, past president of the Healthcare Billing and Management Association, will co-host the broadcast, filling in for Erica Remer, MD, who is on assignment.

Other segments to be featured on the broadcast include:

  • Coding Report: Rhonda Buckholtz, vice president of strategic development for Eye Care Leaders, will report on new codes for myocardial infarction.

  • News Desk: Gloryanne Bryant, past president of the California Health Information Association, reports on the 2018 Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) proposed rule released Thursday by CMS.

  • Focus on Scribes: Tammy Combs, RN, MSN, CDIP, CCS, CCDS, director and lead nurse planner of health information management (HIM) practice excellence for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), will present the second installment of a developing story on the use of medical scribes.
