Original story posted on: August 12, 2013

Panacea Healthcare Solutions, Inc., publisher of industry-leading ICD10monitor, announces its newest ICD-10 training tool, Webcast Wednesdays, Featuring ICD-10-PCS Solutions with Lolita M. Jones.

This 11-week training series is designed to provide hospitals with the necessary knowledge and tools necessary to conduct end-to-end testing of their coding billing systems under ICD-10. The fact is – many facilities have not yet begun the enormous work it will take to successfully report a multitude of ancillary services under the ICD-10 coding system.

"One thing that all hospitals should be aware of is that ICD-10-PCS, the new procedural coding system, is vastly different from ICD-9-CM. And given the proximity of the ICD-10 implementation date, training coders, strengthening documentation practices and other essential tasks must be pursued with a sense of urgency," says Lolita M. Jones, RHIA, CCS.

The weekly webcasts provide high-quality guidance, tips and insights from one of the country's preeminent ICD-10 experts. Each webcast in the series focuses on critical ICD-10-PCS codes and the documentation requirements for specific ancillary service areas. In each session, Ms. Jones provides critical training on: ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding structures; how to correctly apply critical ICD-10-PCS codes; documentation challenges and solutions; case studies; and ICD-10 checklists.

Beginning Aug. 28, the 11-week webcast starts off with a session on ICD-10-PCS solutions for cardiodiagnostics, cardiac rehabilitation and electrophysiology, and then each week thereafter through Nov. 13, sessions focus on different ancillary service areas that present ICD-10-PCS coding and documentation challenges. Other specialties include infusion, transfusion, diagnostic radiology, oncology, interventional radiology, neurology, wound care, respiratory services, radiation therapy, medication therapy, and behavioral health.

Regardless of what stage hospitals are in with regard to their preparation for ICD-10, Webcast Wednesdays, Featuring ICD-10-PCS Solutions with Lolita M. Jones is an ideal training and education tool for HIM staff and other ICD-10 team members.
