Special Broadcast: The ICD-10 Congressional Hearing

Talk Ten Tuesdays will broadcast a special legislative update on the outcome of the implementation of ICD-10 following testimony during a hearing being conducted by the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee's subcommittee on health.

 

The committee will hear testimony from stakeholders regarding the implementing ICD-10 on October 1, 2015. The broadcast will air live from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Eastern. Witnesses scheduled to appear before the committee include the following:

 

  • Edwin M. Burke, MD Bayer Medical Group
  • Rich Averill, Director of Public Policy 3M Health Information Systems
  • Sue Bowman, Senior Director Coding Policy and Compliance American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
  • Kristi A. Matus, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer Athena Health
  • William Jefferson Terry, MD, Mobile Urology Group
  • Carmella Bocchino, Executive Vice President of Clinical Affairs and Strategic Planning America’s Health Insurance Plans
  • Dr. John Hughes, Professor of Medicine Yale University

The subcommittee on health is chaired by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA). According to an announcement posted on the committee’s website, committee members have been working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) “to ensure this deadline is successfully met.”

“This hearing is an important opportunity to hear about the state of preparedness of all those involved and ensure that we are continuing to move forward in health care technology,” said Pitts.
